Kamal Hassan is a widely respected and admired film legend with a career spaning over 38 years. He is a most widely respected and admired legend  and his films have achieved phenomenal box office successes both in India and internationally.

Kamal has essayed a variety of different roles in his film career, and has a strong passion for experimentation. He is one of the few film personalities who have been involved in all aspects of filmmaking including directing, producing, choreography, screenplay and story writing. He is also a trained playback singer and sometimes pens the lyrics for the soundtracks of his films. His film, Nayakan, which won 18 Filmfare awards, has been rated as one of the top 100 films of all time by Time magazine in 2005, and he is the only actor to have seven of his films being nominated as official entries to the Oscars.
